Privacy Policy

The Hog Watch Tracker is an informational and educational project operated by Texas Hog Dispatch (“Texas Hog Dispatch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It is available at tracker.texashogdispatch.com.

The Tracker presents feral hog population estimates, modeled activity indicators, public records, research, educational materials, county-level information, interactive tools, and downloadable resources. It is not a live sighting feed, emergency service, or service-request platform.

This policy explains how information is handled when you visit or interact with the Hog Watch Tracker. It applies to the Tracker website and its Tracker Updates signup forms. The separate platform at texashogdispatch.com, which handles intake, review, matching/routing, and administration, has its own Privacy Policy.

Tracker Updates

The Tracker includes optional signup forms for visitors who want to receive notices when data, research, or Tracker features are added or updated.

The forms request:

• Email address — required
• Name — optional

Those are all the fields requested by the current Tracker Updates forms. The forms do not request a telephone number, mailing or property address, precise location, payment information, financial-account information, government identification, Social Security number, driver’s license number, health information, insurance documents, licensing documents, or an account password.

Please do not enter sensitive information into a signup field.

Direct email

The Tracker includes email links for reporting a data error or contacting us. If you email data@texashogdispatch.com, ops@texashogdispatch.com, or another displayed Texas Hog Dispatch address, we receive the email address used to send the message and whatever information you choose to include.

Please do not send sensitive personal, financial, health, identification, or precise-location information by email.

The Tracker provides interactive features such as maps, state and county selectors, searches, filters, calculators, quizzes, theme controls, downloadable CSV files, and downloadable PDF resources.

Information such as quiz selections, search terms, filter choices, map selections, and calculator inputs may be processed by your browser to display the requested result. These tools are not intended to create a personal profile, accept a service request, or collect a live feral hog sighting.

We do not ask visitors to associate quiz answers, searches, map selections, or calculator inputs with their identity. General interaction with these features may be reflected in the technical and aggregate usage information described below.

Our hosting and infrastructure providers process standard technical information when the Tracker is visited. This may include:

• IP address
• Browser and device user agent
• Pages and files requested
• Referring page or source
• Date and time stamps
• General geographic region derived from an IP address
• Basic page and feature interactions
• Error, diagnostic, security, and abuse-prevention information

The Tracker uses analytics functionality supplied through its hosting platform to understand general website use, identify popular pages and features, maintain performance, and diagnose problems. The analytics script is delivered through the Tracker’s own domain using the platform’s proxied analytics endpoints.

We do not use this information to build advertising profiles, serve targeted advertising, or make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about an individual.

The Tracker does not use advertising pixels, social-media tracking pixels, session-recording tools, or fingerprinting scripts.

The Tracker currently loads certain typefaces through Google Fonts. When a page requests a font from Google, Google receives ordinary technical information needed to deliver the file, such as the visitor’s IP address, browser or device user agent, and the requested resource.

Google handles that information under its own privacy terms. Texas Hog Dispatch does not receive a list from Google identifying individual visitors who loaded a font.

Other Tracker images, logos, illustrations, stylesheets, and downloadable resources are generally served from the Tracker or its hosting infrastructure.

The Tracker may use browser-based storage or similar technology when reasonably necessary to remember interface preferences or operate interactive features. For example, a browser preference may be used to preserve a selected display theme or temporary feature state.

The hosting platform’s analytics and infrastructure may also use technical mechanisms necessary to measure aggregate site activity, protect the site, or maintain service reliability.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral advertising cookies, or browser storage to create advertising profiles.

We use information associated with the Tracker to:

• Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website
• Present requested maps, searches, quizzes, calculators, and downloads
• Understand general and aggregate use of Tracker pages and features
• Diagnose errors and technical problems
• Prevent abuse and fraudulent activity
• Add a visitor to the Tracker Updates list when requested
• Send notices about new or updated Tracker data, research, resources, or features
• Respond to data corrections, questions, and privacy requests
• Maintain accurate research and source information
• Comply with applicable law and protect our rights and the rights of others

We do not use Tracker information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

If you submit a Tracker Updates form, we may use your email address and optional name to send occasional notices about new data, research, educational materials, corrections, or Tracker features.

You may stop receiving Tracker Updates at any time by using an unsubscribe method included in an applicable message, replying to a message with an opt-out request, or emailing ops@texashogdispatch.com.

We will honor an opt-out request and will not intentionally send further promotional or Tracker Update messages to an address that has opted out. We may retain the minimum information reasonably necessary to document and honor the request.

The current Tracker Updates system may be replaced or upgraded as the project develops. This policy will be updated if that change materially affects the information collected or how it is used.

We do not operate all website infrastructure ourselves. Hosting, analytics, technical operations, form processing, email transmission, security, and related services may be supplied through Lovable and its underlying infrastructure providers.

Google supplies the externally hosted font files described in Section 5.

These providers process information as necessary to supply their respective services, subject to the applicable service agreements and privacy terms governing those services.

We may also disclose information:

• When required by law, subpoena, court order, or valid legal process
• To investigate fraud, misuse, or security incidents
• To protect our rights, safety, property, or the rights and safety of others
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to any notice required by law

We do not sell personal information for money.

We do not share personal information for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not participate in advertising exchanges or data-broker arrangements.

Tracker Updates contact information is not provided to independent feral hog operators for marketing or service solicitation.

We retain Tracker Updates information while a person remains subscribed and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested communications.

If a person opts out, we may retain the minimum information reasonably necessary to document and honor the opt-out and prevent additional update messages.

Emails sent directly to Texas Hog Dispatch may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain research and correction records, document the communication, resolve disputes, protect the integrity of the Tracker, or comply with law.

Hosting logs, analytics records, error information, backups, and other infrastructure records are retained according to periods established by the applicable service providers. Texas Hog Dispatch does not control all provider retention periods.

Information may be retained longer where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement of applicable agreements.

We take reasonable measures to protect information associated with the Tracker. Traffic to the site is encrypted in transit, and administrative or infrastructure access is limited through the systems used to operate the site.

No transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Do not send sensitive personal, financial, health, identification, or precise-location information through a Tracker Updates form or by email.

You may ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you
• Provide a copy of it
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete information
• Stop sending Tracker Update emails

Send a request to ops@texashogdispatch.com with “Tracker Privacy Request” in the subject line.

Use the email address associated with your request or provide enough information for us to reasonably verify your identity. We will not use verification information for an unrelated purpose.

We will respond to a verifiable request within 45 days. If additional time is reasonably necessary, we may extend that period as permitted by applicable law and will provide any required notice.

We may retain limited information where necessary to honor an opt-out, comply with law, maintain security, preserve the integrity of research or correction records, resolve disputes, or prevent fraud. Copies may also remain temporarily in provider logs or backups.

We will not discriminate against someone for submitting a privacy request.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights concerning your personal information.

Texas residents

Where the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act applies to us, Texas residents may have the right to confirm whether we process their personal data, access and obtain a copy of it, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, or certain profiling.

We do not sell personal data, engage in targeted advertising, or use personal data for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Regardless of whether that Act presently applies to us, we will accept and process access, correction, deletion, and opt-out requests as described in Section 13.

If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response. We will review the appeal and inform you of our decision. Where applicable law requires it, a denied appeal will include information about contacting the Texas Attorney General.

Other locations

Additional or different rights may be available depending on your location and applicable law. Contact ops@texashogdispatch.com to submit a request.

The Hog Watch Tracker provides general educational information but is not directed to children under 13, and the Tracker Updates list is intended for adults.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 submitted personal information, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

The Tracker cites and links to government agencies, universities, research publications, news organizations, source documents, social media pages, and other outside websites.

Selecting an external link takes you to a service we do not control and that is governed by its own privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of outside websites.

Downloading a Tracker CSV, PDF, infographic, field guide, press resource, or other file may create an ordinary download record in your browser or device. Texas Hog Dispatch does not receive access to the unrelated files or other information stored on your device merely because you download a Tracker resource.

We may update this policy as the Tracker develops.

When we make a change, we will revise the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, such as collecting a materially different category of information or using information in a substantially different way, we will provide additional notice when required by applicable law.
